I was standing in my milliondollar haute couture engagement gown. But my fiancé couldn't tear his eyes off a text from his broke side piece.

He had been obsessed with that broke bitch for years.Everyone expected me to accept him with the grace of a highsociety socialite.

But I possessed a multibilliondollar inheritance and toptier beauty. Why the hell should I waste my life on this trash relationship?!

Chapter 1 My sudden moment of clarity couldn't have come at a worse time. Tomorrow was my engagement ceremony with Pierce.

Right now, he was supposedly helping me pick out a dress. "They all look fine. Just pick one," he drawled, barely lifting his eyes from the screen.

He leaned back against the sofa, barely lifting his eyelids. His entire focus remained locked on his screen. The phone buzzed.

A spark of joy flashed across his face as he unlocked it, only to immediately drop his gaze in disappointment. Ha! He was waiting for a message from Haven.

Still pining over his old flame the day before our engagement. What a hopeless romantic. The corset of the gown dug into my ribs.

I casually unhooked it. "Pierce, the engagement is off." "Yeah." "Yeah?!" He snapped his head up, eyes wide. "What did you say?" Was the man deaf?

I forced myself to repeat it, locking eyes with him. "The engagement is off. We're done.

Are we clear?" Thinking I was playing hard to get, he reached out to touch my shoulder. "Stop messing around. Be good." Be good my ass. I swatted his hand away.

Just as I opened my mouth to set him straight, a blur of pink rushed past me.

A girl latched onto Pierce's arm, glaring at me like a mother hen protecting her chick as she screamed, "What are you doing to him?

Haven, if you don't even like him, why are you still stringing him along?

You manipulative fake bitch!" I took a disgusted step back and brushed off my dress where her spit had landed. "Miss, before you start biting people like a rabid dog, maybe open your eyes.

I am definitely not that broke bitch Haven." A flash of embarrassment crossed her face. "Whatever! Just stay away from Pierce!" Speechless. Did I forget to check my horoscope today?

What was with this psycho? Actually, this was perfect. Both of our families were elite titans with deep corporate ties. They took this strategic marriage incredibly seriously.

If I just canceled it out of nowhere, my parents would have a hard time explaining it to the board. But with this crazy chick crashing the party, I had my golden ticket.

I immediately shifted my expression to look heartbroken. I covered my face. "Your side piece literally tracked me down, and you have the nerve to tell me to be good?

You absolute bastard!" Behind my hand, my lips curled into a massive smirk. Pierce tried to pry the girl off, but she held on like a leech.

His polished gentleman persona didn't allow him to just shove her to the floor, leaving them locked in an awkward struggle. "Pierce, I'm Chloe.

I'm here to save you," she sniffled, burying her face into his chest and lacing her fingers through his. "Don't be afraid. I'm here now.

I won't let anyone bully you ever again." The scene was so tragically dramatic it gave me fullbody goosebumps.

I held up my phone and snapped a rapidfire series of highdefinition photos. These were perfect courtroom evidence!

I forwarded the pictures to our family's chief counsel and my trust fund manager.

I wouldn't even need to say a word; they would immediately initiate the capital withdrawal protocols against Pierce's family.

This was fantastic! "Have some selfrespect." Pierce finally shoved Chloe away. He frantically smoothed out the wrinkles in his suit, a deep scowl etched on his face. Right.

He was a massive germaphobe. Before I regained my senses, I used to scrub my hands raw just to hold his.

Once, when I got too excited and grabbed his arm, he didn't pull away—but the second I let go, he whipped out a wet wipe and scrubbed his skin.

Then he went to the restroom and washed his hands three times! Back then, I thought he just liked being clean. Now, I knew he was just psychotic.

Of course, Haven was the sole exception. She could roll around in a literal dumpster and Pierce wouldn't mind a bit.

His socalled germaphobia was just a convenient excuse for not loving me.

Chloe tried to lunge at him again, but Pierce snapped his fingers at his security detail. "Drag this lunatic out of here." Chloe's eyes widened in sheer disbelief. "How is this happening?" she muttered to herself. "In the book, Pierce is supposed to be so gentle." Silly girl.

His gentleness was strictly reserved for Haven.

Chapter 2 The moment I got home, I slammed the stack of highdefinition photos onto the marble table and sneered, "Mom, Dad, freeze all corporate ties with Pierce's family.

I'm dumping that idiot immediately." I tossed my limitededition designer bag to the butler and sank into the velvet sofa, crossing my arms as I gave them a cold, calculating look.

Mom, adjusting the edges of her luxury sheet mask, clicked her heels over.

Mom snatched up the photos, her face hardening. "And here I thought their third son actually had some class.

Turns out he's just as much of a cheating scumbag as his second brother!" Dad coldly snapped his custom encrypted laptop shut, crushed out his cigar in the ashtray, and stood up, striding toward me to demand, "Who dares to cross my baby girl?" I tilted my chin, gesturing for them to look.

Handholding, hugging, sickeningly sweet gazes—the photos captured Pierce and Chloe practically glued to each other from every damning angle. Please.

My photography skills weren't just for show. I knew exactly how to zoom in and capture the perfect closeup of their pathetic little romance.

Dad slammed his fist onto the marble. "His family is going to give us an explanation for this." That afternoon, our entire family descended upon Pierce's estate.

Coincidentally, Zayne and Haven were there too. The tall, imposing man and his delicate little woman were practically fused together. It was a visually striking picture, sure.

But their blatant public displays of affection were a total eyesore. Could they not just take it to a bedroom? Everyone else in the room seemed unfazed by it.

Only Pierce kept shooting them sideways glances, his jaw clenched so tight I could see the muscles jumping as his hands curled into tight fists.

Driven by some pathetic, competitive possessiveness, he reached out to grab my waist.

I threw a glass of ice water directly onto his custom haute couture suit and stepped back with a cold sneer. "Don't touch me with the same dirty hands you use to touch other women." Pierce's mother scrambled to do damage control. "Vivienne, darling, that woman from earlier is just a lunatic!

Pierce has absolutely nothing to do with her.

You must not misunderstand him." Half a day was more than enough time for their family's private investigators to rip Chloe's background wide open.

An abusive father, a toxic mother, a deadbeat brother—she was a textbook tragic charity case.

In the eyes of this elite dynasty, a woman from that kind of trashy background wasn't even qualified to breathe the same air as their golden boy.

Even if they had hooked up, the family would bury it forever. "But ma'am—" Before I could even finish, Haven cut in. "Vivienne, don't you know what kind of man Pierce is by now?

How could you ever doubt him?" The audacity of this bitch. Trying to gaslight me in front of everyone?

I let out a sharp scoff. "If you trust him so much, why don't you just marry him?" Haven's face burned red with humiliation.

Zayne instantly pulled Haven behind him, pressing a hard kiss to her forehead to soothe her.

Then, like a feral beast defending its territory, he locked his lethal gaze onto me. "Speak to her in that tone again, and I'll make sure your family's stock becomes worthless paper by tomorrow morning." His sycophant assistant chimed in to play the victim card. "Miss Vivienne, when the Madam heard about your situation, she was so worried she couldn't even eat.

She rushed all the way here, and this is how you treat her?

It's chilling." My lips curled into a nasty smirk. "Is that my fault?" Sorry, but emotional blackmail doesn't work on people who don't care. "If she was really that worried about me, why didn't she come to my house this morning?" "Oh, right.

How could I possibly compare to her precious Pierce? Honestly, Zayne, your wife cares so much about another man.

Why don't you just step aside and give them your blessing?" Zayne slammed his hand against the wall. "Vivienne!" I took a disgusted step back, avoiding his frantic spit that threatened to stain my custom haute couture gown, and mocked him with a cold sneer. "Do all you arrogant men suffer from some kind of rabid anger management issue?" Chapter 3 Zayne was known around the elite circles as the "Grim Reaper of Wall Street." Other people were terrified of him, but I couldn't care less.

The original storyline had already ended, and the normal order of the world had finally returned.

A massive corporate empire like my family's, controlling multiple core global supply chains, wasn't something a ruthless Wall Street newlyrich shark like him could snap his fingers and destroy.

I noticed his jaw tighten as he shot Pierce several dark, irritated glares. He was feeling threatened.

For an overly possessive alpha male who was used to thinking with his lower half, driving a wedge between them would be ridiculously easy.

If they just stayed in their lane and didn't provoke me, I wouldn't have the energy to deal with them. But obviously, these two main characters were never the quiet types.

Wherever they went, absolute toxic drama followed. There was a very good reason why I despised them so much. To put it nicely, I was supposed to be the female lead's bestie.

To put it bluntly, I was her glorified minion. I bought her designer clothes and jewelry, stood by her when she was being bullied, and what did she do?

She forgave every single one of her tormentors and actually turned around to blame me for not being merciful enough.

When Zayne showed up to back her up, she didn't look at anyone else. She just stared at me, sobbing hysterically, making him think I was the one bullying her.

He almost drove my family's company into bankruptcy over it. It wasn't until our stock plummeted to the absolute bottom that she finally rushed to explain the truth to him.

In the end, my family lost billions in assets, all in exchange for one pathetic, meaningless apology from her. And Zayne? He still stood there on his high horse, devoid of guilt.

His arrogant smirk made it seem like it was our fault for not explaining things clearly beforehand. Damn that ridiculous protagonist halo.

In any normal society, a guy like him wouldn't even be hired to tighten screws in a factory! Dad stepped forward, shielding me behind him. "Mr.

Zayne, Vivienne is just fired up right now and speaking bluntly.

Don't take it to heart." He then lowered his gaze to Haven, his eyes freezing over like ice. "And please keep your wife in check.

Our family matters are none of her business." "Sir, I didn't mean…" Haven stammered, trying to defend herself. Dad didn't give her an inch of grace. "Save it.

Don't treat us like idiots." Hearing that, Haven's face drained of all color, and she started sobbing those perfect, delicate little tears.

If Zayne hadn't been holding her up from behind, she probably would have collapsed right onto her ass. I tugged on the back of Dad's suit jacket and shot him a covert thumbsup.

Boss move, Dad! Disgusted by their interference, my parents completely lost the mood to negotiate with Pierce's family.

With a decisive wave of their hands, the engagement was officially terminated! Finally free of that dead weight, I felt liberated.

That night, I invited a few of my socialite besties out to party at a private VIP club.

Under the deafening, heavy bass, male strippers grinded wildly against poles, and Ace of Spades champagne sprayed everywhere in the booths.

Yet, there was one person, wearing a cheap white dress, huddled in a corner holding an acoustic guitar and singing folk songs.

She looked out of place in this room soaked in the scent of pure money! I narrowed my eyes to get a better look. Well, well, well, if it wasn't Chloe.

Times must be tough if she had to resort to street performing after crossing dimensions. But things definitely weren't that simple.

Sure enough, I spotted a familiar silhouette out of the corner of my eye—Pierce. Absolutely zero surprises there. I took a small sip of my brandy. It hit hard.

With less than half a glass down, a burning pain immediately flared up in my stomach.

One of my friends pointed excitedly, "Vivienne, isn't that your fiancé?" I immediately corrected her, "The engagement is off.

He doesn't even qualify as an ex." "Is that so?" A deep, dangerously low male voice suddenly resonated from right above my head. I jumped, my hand tightening around my glass.

Did this guy know how to teleport? Pierce stood there, his face tight and miserable. "You have a bad stomach. You shouldn't be drinking." I let out a mocking laugh. "Oh?

And pray tell, why exactly do I have a bad stomach?" Chapter 4 Six months ago, Haven and Zayne got into a massive blowout, and she pulled a dramatic midnight runaway act.

With just one pathetic phone call, Pierce immediately moved her into his private mansion. For an entire month, they practically lived on top of each other.

No one knew what happened behind those closed doors. I just remember that during that month, Pierce looked sickeningly happy.

He was usually so stiff and cold, but suddenly, I'd catch him smiling at his phone like some lovesick teenager experiencing his first crush. But the honeymoon phase didn't last.

Zayne tracked her down. They kissed and made up. And Pierce? He crashed straight back down to hell. I watched him tug at Haven's sleeve, only for her to yank her arm away.

It was pathetic. He didn't even have the guts to grab her hand. He started drinking himself into a stupor.

I couldn't talk any sense into him, so like an idiot, I matched him shot for shot at the bar, drowning myself in highproof tequila until the alcohol poisoning hit and I blacked out.

My body collapsed onto the floor, convulsing. And Pierce? He thought I was faking it for sympathy.

He stood there and watched me twitch on the floor for half an hour before finally calling his private doctor.

After that nightmare, I was left with severe, chronic nerve damage. "I'm sorry." The hostility radiating from Pierce suddenly vanished, his tone shifting into something soft and apologetic.

Too bad I didn't give a damn anymore. "If you're actually sorry, then do us both a favor and get the hell out of my face." Pierce didn't argue.

He just forcefully snatched the glass of liquor right out of my hand and slumped into a booth a few feet away. "Sweetheart, what's with the innocent act?

Sneaking into the VIP section dressed like that, aren't you just trying to hook a rich sugar daddy?" A group of arrogant, alcoholsoaked trustfund brats completely surrounded her.

One of them actually reached out and yanked the fabric of her cheap dress, laughing ruthlessly. "Why do you keep staring over there?

Don't flatter yourself." "A single bottle of champagne at their table costs more than you'd make singing here for ten years.

Be a good girl, drink with us, and we'll make sure you get a fat tip tonight!" "Get your hands off me! Help! Somebody help me!" Chaos erupted in Chloe's corner.

I watched as the strap of her dress ripped. She stumbled out of the circle of men and frantically sprinted in our direction.

She lunged and desperately grabbed onto Pierce's sleeve, her eyes brimming with terrified tears. "Pierce, save me." The tiny, fragile girl stood there, her lips violently trembling in fear.

It was genuinely a pitiful sight. But a second later, her entire expression froze. Pierce shoved her away.

Right in front of her shocked face, he wiped the exact spot on his sleeve she had grabbed.

Still disgusted by the contact, he grabbed the expensive fabric and ripped it straight off his suit jacket. So much for his perfect gentleman persona.

After completely humiliating the girl, he turned his head and locked eyes with me. "I seriously don't know who she is." I had seen that exact frantic, defensive expression on his face before.

It was back when Haven caught the two of us having dinner alone. Haven put on a devastatingly broken act, like a woman betrayed by the love of her life.

Tears welled perfectly in her eyes as she bit her bottom lip, accusing him, "So the two of you have already taken things this far behind my back?" Back then, Pierce had panicked, desperately severing any ties with me and swearing it was just a coincidence.

It took him half an hour of groveling to finally coax Haven into smiling again. And now? What the hell was he trying to do? Coax me?

Trying to win my favor by utterly crushing another woman only made me deeply sick to my stomach.

I took off my designer jacket, draped it firmly over Chloe's shaking shoulders, and pulled her off the floor.

She just stood there, numb, still paralyzed by the shock of his cruelty. "That's impossible," she aggressively muttered to herself. "That's impossible… Pierce isn't like this." I looked her dead in the eye. "That's exactly who he is.

He's just not the fantasy you built up in your head." Women always have this pathetic habit of putting the men they like on a pedestal.

They elevate them to these godlike heights, convince themselves they aren't worthy, and then spiral into toxic insecurity. But are these men actually that incredible? Never.

Not even close. "I don't believe you!" Chloe violently slapped my hand away. "He just hasn't seen how good I am yet!" Her eyes darted around as she scrambled for an excuse. "I was just rushing things!

I shouldn't have thrown myself at him like that. Yes, exactly. That's it." With just a few delusional sentences, she gaslit herself into a new reality.

She clutched my jacket tightly around her chest, shot one last obsessive, lingering look at Pierce's back, and sprinted out of the club. The next day, I received the news. Chapter 5
