I joined a Toxic Obsession Support Group for one reason: to lock up my gorgeous boss. I partnered up with a filthy rich, creepy stalker guy.
I told him I loved my boss enough to die for him.
My partner scoffed. "You are offering useless trash," he said. "I set up a billiondollar trust fund for my baby." He definitely had me beat.
The most I could afford was a few bucks for some rope. We were two creeps drooling over our secret crushes. We spent a year plotting.
We hyped each other up. "Time to claim what is ours," he said. So I made my move. Down in the parking garage. My boss and I stared at each other in dead silence.
I had a bundle of rope slung over my shoulder. He had a solid gold ankle chain wrapped around his wrist.
Chapter 1 My billionaire boss was standing in the dark basement of my rundown apartment building, wearing a solid gold ankle chain.
He wore a custom, tailored suit that cost more than my whole life. Every inch of him screamed perfection, from his immaculate hair to his rockhard body.
A gold ankle chain dangled from his wrist, complete with tiny bells attached. He stared straight at me from fifteen feet away. The pieces clicked together in my head, one by one.
Ice spread across my neck. I was a creepy stalker girl. To pull off the perfect kidnapping plan against my boss, I had joined a Toxic Obsession Support Group.
That was where I found my partner, another hardcore psycho. We clung to each other like weirdos. Just this afternoon, we hyped each other up and decided to execute the plan.
Three massive notebooks. 528 pages of detailed strategy. A full year of plotting. It was finally happening today. My partner said, "My baby is a homebody.
It's her day off, so she's definitely home." I said, "My boss is a workaholic. The news said his old injury flared up, and he's in the hospital.
I'm going to lock him up while he's weak." We were like two rats hiding in the sewer, too afraid of the light, plotting to steal the people we craved.
We had even picked out each other's tools. He had advised me, "Nylon rope is tough, but it looks ugly. Silk ribbon is too pricey for your budget. Go with a cottonlinen blend.
It gives off that sterile minimalist aesthetic. Leaves cute pink marks on the skin. Delicious." I had advised him, "Your baby loves gold, right? Get a gold ankle chain.
Add tiny bells. When she moves, it'll sound like a heavy rain of chimes." And now… Every single clue pointed straight to my boss, Roman Sinclair.
My lips trembled. "Damian?" I whispered, testing the waters. That was my partner's handle. Roman had foxlike eyes. When he narrowed them, he looked dangerously seductive.
The corners of his mouth twitched upward into a faint smile. Then he spoke. "Abby? You live here?" A gust of wind swept through the basement hallway. Heavy footsteps rushed closer.
A middleaged man jogged over, holding a tiny puppy in his hands. "Mr. Sinclair, sorry to keep you waiting!" I recognized that voice. It was my upstairs neighbor.
When he saw me standing there, his face flushed with awkwardness. "Oh, Abby…" Damn it. He promised that puppy to me!
He backed out last night, and it turned out he was selling it to a rich mogul! I hated this!
Roman took the puppy and offered a polite, gentle smile. "I'll take good care of him." He turned his gaze back to me. "Abby, who is Damian?" I froze like a deer in headlights, my face burning crimson, unable to squeeze out a single word.
Chapter 2 Roman cast a sidelong glance at me. His foxlike eyes glinted, and sweat broke out down my spine. A low chuckle echoed in the concrete basement. "Abby.
Am I still that terrifying today?" I snapped my head up.
His dark eyes danced with pure amusement. "You… you saw my secret Twitter alt…" The secret Twitter alt where I had posted over a thousand thirsty rants about him. "Yes. I saw it.
Sorry." I lost my mind. I dragged my body back to my apartment like a walking corpse. I pulled up the account on my phone. Shit. I logged into the wrong one.
I ran Roman's official corporate account. Everything I drafted had to go through him first for approval.
I was so caught up in my kidnapping fantasy these past few days that I slipped up. Thank god only Roman saw the drafts before they went live. But this was still a public execution.
I was dead. I was so dead. My eyes scanned the drafts, line by line. [I really need to quit. The boss stood by the whiteboard today.
He looked like a literal mountain rising in front of me.] [HeightDifference? More like Height Death!] [Quitting. I must quit. Company retreat at the escape room.
Locked in a dark room with the boss alone.] [There was a tiny window to get out.
He picked me up by the waist with one hand like a baby chick and shoved me through.] [I found my resignation excuse. Medical reasons. Extreme cowardice.
I cannot participate in any activities requiring me to be in a dark room with my 6foot3 boss.] [I am actually quitting. Saw the boss in the hallway after overtime.
Half his face was in the shadows.] [He looked like a gorgeous, tyrannical movie villain smoking against the wall. I am literally sobbing. I am truly terrified of him.] Whatever.
Life is short. It will be over soon anyway. I rolled around on my bed. My phone buzzed. Him: [How did the plan go?] Me: [It failed. Sobbing.
I almost mistook my boss for you because he was holding a gold chain with bells. Turns out it was a dog leash.] Him: [I went to the hospital. Plan paused.] Me: [Are you sick?
Take care of yourself.] Him: [I am fine.] The screen stayed quiet for a few seconds. Him: [If I were your boss, wouldn't that mean we are the same kind of people?
Isn't that a good thing?] Me: [Dead bunny meme.] Me: [That would be a disaster. You have no idea how terrifying my boss is.
He is like a bloodthirsty merman or a tentacle monster from a dark comic.] Me: [You are a creepy stalker guy.
You literally dream about swallowing your baby whole and keeping her trapped inside you forever.] Me: [If you combine that with my boss's giant body? God.
I would actually die.] Him: [I would be gentle.] Him: [I mean, I would be patient with my baby.] Me: [My boss wouldn't.] Me: [The whole office agrees he oozes this aggressive, hyperfertile dominance.] Me: [Why do you think I planned this so carefully?
I wanted a taste of him in secret. If he were awake while I touched him, he would punch my head off.] Him: [You are terrified of him. That is why you want control.] Me: [Exactly.
I am a massive coward. If I wasn't a little sick in the head, I would never dare to crave my boss.] Chapter 3 Me: [It's his fault for being so gorgeous.
Otherwise I would just keep my head down and stay out of trouble. But I crave him.] Him: [Drug him.] The screen stayed quiet for a long time. I remembered our first conversation.
Damian and I had bickered. I said, [I love my boss enough to die for him!] Damian scoffed. [You are offering useless trash. I set up a billiondollar trust fund for my baby.
If she wants, she gets the most loyal dog in the world!] He was definitely a big shot. I was a coward. And broke. I still lived with roommates.
So I told him the truth. [If I drug him, I don't even have a secret place to lock him up. Oh wait, there is a rundown shed back in my hometown that hasn't collapsed yet.
Maybe—] Damian paused, then replied with striking generosity. [I will help you. Enjoy.] God was on my side. The company victory party got pushed up by two whole months.
I was a massive coward. On a normal day, I didn't even dare to speak two extra words to Roman. Only at a banquet. Everyone feared and respected him.
They lined up to hand him drinks. I could easily blend into the crowd. "To Mr. Sinclair. This project's success is all thanks to your leadership." "Mr. Sinclair… Mr.
Sinclair…" I huddled in the corner, hyping myself up. I kept repeating my script in my head. I was the queen of overthinking.
The moment I pictured Roman's deep amber eyes pinned under his sharp brow ridge—like a dragon lurking in the abyss—I flinched. Timid. Socially awkward. Insecure.
I was definitely a rat hiding in the dark. "Roman. A toast to you. Congratulations on the massive win." A sweet, melodic voice cut through the chatter. I looked up.
It was Kendall, the heiress to Summit Retail Group. Confident. Seductive. Curves to die for. I stared at my shoes. Be brave, Abby. You work at a Fortune 500 company.
You are amazing. I quickly dumped the powder Damian mailed me into my glass of wine. Stir. Swirl. I stood up and walked toward the center of the crowd.
The lights in the room seemed obsessed with him. A soft halo caught his sharp brow ridge. But his lips tilted slightly up at the corners, softening his aggressive aura. "Mr.
Sinclair." I held my glass, standing mere inches away from him. "Yes?" He was so tall. When he spoke to people, he politely lowered his body.
Especially for someone like me, who wasn't wearing heels. His gaze caught the shimmering liquid in my glass. He closed the gap. Wine stained his lips. Glossy. Soft.
Like a bruised rose petal. "Mr. Sinclair, I want to—" I want to ask you to drink this. And then, I want to eat you alive. "You want to do what?" He leaned in further.
The distance between us evaporated. His low, magnetic voice carried a trace of dark coaxing. "I… I want to go home.
Can I take the rest of the night off?" The honeysweet smile froze on Roman's lips. "Ah. You want to go home?" He chewed on my words. When Roman got mad, he smiled.
So, most of the time, I couldn't tell what he was really feeling. Chapter 4 His smile drifted to the glass in my hand. "That is a shame, Abby.
I will have to trouble you to drive me home." He reached for my glass. I didn't know where the courage came from. I raised my hand and downed the wine in one gulp. "Mr.
Sinclair, I… I drank too. I will contact the Chief of Staff to arrange a driver for you. Is that okay?" It was exactly like a mouse cornered by a cat. Roman smiled again.
It looked like pure anger. "I did not drink, Abby. Wait until the banquet ends. I will drive you home.
Is that acceptable?" Feeling as though he had seen right through me, I automatically muted myself and tried to shrink out of existence. "Yes, Mr.
Sinclair." I slunk back into my corner. I was screaming at myself inside. I was so close. Abby, you are useless. The banquet dragged on.
Damian had told me the powder took a while to kick in, but the effects were intense. So I wasn't feeling sleepy just yet. I nibbled on canapés while I waited.
The lights hit the champagne tower, scattering like crushed gold. I wasn't sure if it was the drug or just exhaustion setting in. Damian texted me. Him: [Go upstairs. Top floor.
Room 1801.] Me: [I failed. Sobbing. I drank the spiked wine myself.] Him: [I saw.] I gasped and whipped my head around. Him: [I am in the shadows.
Do not try to find me.] Me: [Okay, okay.] Damian rushed me. Him: [Go upstairs. He is in the room.] Roman? I stood up. I really didn't see him in the crowd anymore.
Me: [What did you do to him?] Him: [I dressed as a waiter and handed him a drink. Like I said, I will help you.] Damian laid out the situation. I was staring at a massive choice.
Roman was passed out in a penthouse suite. If I just walked up there, my ultimate fantasy would come true. Or, the exit was right over there.
I could go home and stay a rat in the dark. My stomach twisted. I was the ultimate good girl. I had never even skipped a class in my life. Damian's message popped up again.
It felt like a demon whispering right into my ear. Him: [Little bunnies shouldn't only eat carrots.] He was right. I could be a meateating bunny.
Him: [He absolutely will not wake up. I guarantee it.] A rush of heat surged through my veins. My pulse pounded in my ears.
The man sitting high in the clouds was suddenly right at my fingertips. Besides, Damian was my best partner. He had helped me so much.
Me: [On my way.] Me: [Thank you.] The room was lit by a single, delicate nightlight. The air felt thick and intimate. Right in the middle of the massive bed lay a figure.
He was dead asleep. I could only see the steady rise and fall of his chest. "Roman?" I whispered his name. The only answer was his soft breathing. I choked down my wild excitement.
I crept closer to the bed. The blackout curtains were drawn tight. The room was sealed off. Me, the pictureperfect good girl, was doing something insane.
I had indirectly kidnapped my boss. Sleeping Roman was devastatingly gorgeous. His jawline was sharp, but the usual hostility had vanished from his face. So pretty.
So incredibly pretty. Without him glaring at everyone, he looked exactly like a sculpted, lifesized masterpiece. Chapter 5 I sat on the edge of the bed.
The soft mattress dipped under my weight. I leaned closer. My elbow brushed against a box on the nightstand. It clattered to the floor.
In the dim light, I stared at the scattered squares. Condoms? Heat rushed to my cheeks. Did Damian prepare these? Actually… whatever. I crouched down to pick them up.
The bold letters XXL flashed across the wrappers. I wasn't surprised. People in the office already placed bets on Roman's size. Some even claimed he dressed to the left.
Rumor had it, guys who dressed to the left were straightforward. I crawled onto the bed. I hovered carefully over Roman. I channeled my inner demon. "Boss.
Guess what bad things I am going to do to you?" My fingertip traced the sharp slope of his nose. The perfect slide. I leaned in closer. My breath brushed his ear. "Boss.
I am going to eat you alive." Roman's Adam's apple bobbed. Gorgeous men always had that faint flush of pink to their skin. His throat. His knuckles.
I wondered if he was pink down there too… Sleeping Roman was so obedient. My courage spiked. I threw a leg over his hips and straddled his waist. Then I bent down.
Like savoring a beautiful, fragrant pastry.
Damian said he would be knocked out all night. "Roman." I only dared to say his first name in secret. "You look delicious." My gaze dropped lower. "Will the skin peel if it gets overused?" I muttered to myself.
It definitely would. I kept biting his lips. No technique. Just raw hunger. Roman bit back like he was trapped in a nightmare. Our teeth clashed.
Ignoring the impatient heat coiling in my stomach, I watched him. He showed zero signs of waking up. But I couldn't handle it anymore. He bit way too hard.
A guy that massive possessed lethal strength even in his mouth. I licked my stinging lips. I scrambled off the bed and fled to the bathroom to splash cold water on my face.
Standing over the sink, I waited for my pulse to settle and texted Damian. Me: [Partner. I achieved my ultimate dream.] A few seconds passed.
Him: [That seemed a little too fast.] Me: [I kissed him for half an hour. Exceeded my expectations!] Him: [And then?] My heart was still hammering against my ribs.
Me: [Now we go back to a normal boss and employee relationship. Nobody will ever know this happened.] Him: [Don't you love him?] Well… I did say I loved him enough to die for him.
Me: [But the main one is coming back. The standin is useless now.] Him: [What does that mean?] My thumbs flew across the screen. Me: [Oh, I never told you.
The man I actually fell for first is my boss's older brother. Too bad he went abroad.] Me: [My boss and his brother look so much alike.
If you saw them, you would instantly know they are bloodrelated.] Damian went quiet for a long time. Then he asked. Him: [So, he is just a standin?] Me: [Yup.
Theoretically, you could say that.] Him: [Since they look so much alike, why don't you want the younger brother?] I thought about it and let my rants fly.
Me: [If it weren't for that face, who would even like him? He looks like a mobster in a suit. His smile rivals a supervillain.
He is genuinely terrifying…] Me: [And another thing.] Since I already got a taste of him, I kept trashing him. Me: [He is a monster.
Working overtime himself isn't enough, he forces me to stay late too. Scrooge Sinclair.
He is going to work himself into an early grave one day.] Chapter 6 Me: [My best cardio is swallowing my rage!] Me: [A rattlesnake would die biting his mouth.
He is constantly dripping sarcasm and picking on me whenever he breathes.] Me: [He has a split personality! One second he wants this, the next he wants that.
When he doesn't smile, he is an iceberg.] Me: [When he smiles, he looks like a creepy stalker guy. A freak! A lunatic!
A psycho!] Me: [If his mouth and eyes didn't look exactly like his brother's, I would climb his drainpipe in the middle of the night, superglue his lips shut, and strangle him with duct tape!] Me: [He is useless now anyway.
His mouth is just a little softer and sweeter, but he is definitely nowhere near as good as his brother.] Me: [Gentle. Softspoken.
The living embodiment of an untouchable ice prince of a professor.] Me: [Gotta go. I am heading home. Thanks for the help, partner. I've got your back next time.] I locked my phone.
I pushed open the bathroom door and stepped out. The room felt thick and dark. The single nightlight glowed like a jellyfish floating in the deep sea.
In this terrifying ocean, a monster had woken up. Fuck. Didn't Damian guarantee Roman would sleep through the night? But right now, he was sitting on the edge of the bed. Barefoot.
Legs spread wide. A dragon lurking in the deep. Amusement hitched the corners of his lips. "Abby, can I ask what just happened?" He clicked his tongue in mock impatience.
His dark gaze dragged down my body and landed heavily on my stomach. "Such a tiny waist. But such a huge appetite.
Can you take it?" During the few seconds I locked eyes with Roman, I was already singing the Folsom Prison Blues behind iron bars in my head
