Preview · Chapter 1

I kicked open the door to the CEO's office. Rowan, the intern, slouched comfortably in my leather executive chair.

Seeing me, he feigned panic and jumped to his feet, but deliberately pulled back his cuff.

He flashed the $300,000 limitededition Richard Mille watch on his wrist—the exact one bought with my American Express Black Card. "Sebastian, please don't be mad.

I'll give it back to you…" His voice trembled, but a provocative smirk played on his lips.

My wife, Genevieve, grabbed his shoulders and shoved him hard back into the seat. "Rowan is a victim!

I gave him this luxury corner office to atone for your toxic, controlfreak behavior! You need to respect his boundaries!" Keeping a boy toy with my money and trying to gaslight me?

I didn't waste a single breath. I swung my arm back.

A sharp crack echoed through the room as my palm connected squarely with her cheek. "You want my office?" I rolled my stinging wrist, staring down at them with cold detachment. "Let's see if you two pieces of trash can take a beating today." Chapter 1 I had transmigrated into an unhinged romance novel.

The intern, Rowan, was nothing more than the son of my family's former chauffeur. After graduating college, he weaseled his way into the company.

Using nonstop gaslighting and playing the depressed victim, he brainwashed the original host's adoptive sister, Kendall, and his wife, Genevieve.

He would suddenly trip and fall whenever I walked past.

He would deliberately spill hot coffee on his own face, slap himself, or smash his head repeatedly against the wall—all to frame me for bullying him.

At first, Genevieve and Kendall defended me. But after his relentless manipulation and tearful victim act, they shifted their loyalty to him.

They pointed their fingers at me, accusing me of abusing my power and having a rotten character. The plot only got more absurd.

Genevieve eventually forced the original host to transfer all his company shares to her name, only to hand every single one over to Rowan.

The original host was kicked out onto the streets. In the dead of winter, a gang of thugs beat him to death under an overpass.

Years later, when the company went bankrupt, Rowan's true colors showed. He became a lazy leech, violently beating the two women and hurling insults at them at the drop of a hat.

He openly bragged about how he had framed me. Only then did they see the real Rowan. They choked on their regret, drowning in misery. But Rowan?

He just swept up their last remaining cash and fled the country to live his best life, unpunished. What kind of braindead author wrote this garbage?

Reading it sent my blood pressure spiking so hard I blacked out—and woke up in this exact trainwreck of a world. "Sebastian!" Genevieve clutched her stinging cheek and whipped her head around. "You hit me?

You worthless piece of trash, you actually hit me?!" Rowan flinched, shrinking behind Genevieve.

His eyes rimmed with red. "Sebastian… it's all my fault." His voice wavered. "It's fine if you bully me or hit me, but how could you strike Genevieve?

Do you have any idea how exhausting it is for her to manage this company for you? If you can't even appreciate her…" Rowan's words were the match to the gasoline.

Genevieve shoved her trembling finger right at my face. "Enough!

Sebastian, if you were a fraction as understanding as Rowan, I wouldn't have had to give him your office." "And now you have the nerve to raise your hand against me?

You will get on your knees and apologize to him right now! And you're going to post a public apology video online confessing to your workplace bullying.

If you don't, I will have my lawyers strip you of everything you own!" Chapter 2 Listen to this absolute garbage logic. Me, the CEO of this corporation, out of line?

She wanted me on my knees? A harsh, incredulous laugh scraped my throat. I swung my arm back and delivered another brutal backhand across her face.

Genevieve stumbled under the force, her hip slamming hard against the edge of the mahogany desk. "You… Sebastian, you hit me again?" She pressed her palm against her rapidly swelling cheek, her eyes locked onto mine.

The fury in her pupils was fracturing, giving way to disbelief and a flicker of genuine panic. "Genevieve, don't forget you were just white trash living in a trailer park, scraping by on food stamps!" I stepped closer, my voice dropping to a dangerous calm. "I dragged you out of that mud!

I put you in those haute couture suits and sat you in that executive chair!" "Everything you have is because of me!" I pointed a finger at the shivering intern. "And you use my money to buy a limitededition watch for him?" "You want to hand over my corner office to an intern?

You want me to get on my knees and apologize? Do you have no shame?!" The office door was wide open. A crowd of employees had gathered in the hallway, peering in.

I had slapped the VP twice in broad daylight. Gasps rippled through the onlookers. Hands flew up to cover open mouths. Their eyes were wide.

Everyone in the building knew Genevieve used to lecture me like a disobedient child. They had never seen me push back, let alone strike her.

Stripped of her flawless facade in front of the whole floor, Genevieve's face flushed crimson. "Enough, Sebastian!" She gripped the edge of the desk, her chest heaving. "Who do you think I'm doing all this for?

It's because you constantly target Rowan! I'm making amends for your toxic behavior! Instead of thanking me, you hit me?" Unbelievable.

The audacity sent the blood rushing straight to my head. My vision tunneled.

I stepped forward and kicked her hard. "Thank you?" My voice was ice. "I'll thank you straight to hell." She flew backward, crashing into a massive decorative vase.

The porcelain shattered with an explosive crash, sending jagged shards skittering across the hardwood floor.

I stared down at her as she scrambled pathetically among the broken porcelain. "You eat my food, live in my house, and use my money to buy him a watch?

You clear out my office for a damn intern, and you want me to thank you?" I stood over her, casting a long shadow. "Who gave you the capital to act so high and mighty?

Have you forgotten how pathetic you looked when you first stepped into my family's estate?!

If my family hadn't funded your life, you wouldn't have even made it into college!" "Shut up!" Genevieve shrieked. "Don't bring that up!

Don't you dare bring that up, Sebastian!" She pointed a shaking finger at me. "Besides being born into old money, what do you even have?!" Rowan rushed over to pull her up, fat tears spilling over his eyelashes. "Sebastian, please, just blame me.

It's all my fault. I was the one who wanted your office…" Disgusting. The sight of his pathetic, manipulative act made my stomach turn.

I grabbed him by the collar of his expensive dress shirt, hoisted him up, and unleashed a barrage of sharp slaps across his face.

One after another. "You asked for this!" A sudden wave of gasps erupted from the hallway. I felt a sharp rush of wind aimed at the back of my head. Instinctively, I ducked. Crash!

Kendall, my adoptive sister, had grabbed the heavy crystal golf trophy from my desk and hurled it with all her might. It missed me—and smashed directly into Rowan's head.

Rowan let out a bloodcurdling scream and collapsed, writhing on the floor. Thick, dark blood gushed through his fingers as he clutched his scalp.

The room fell into a dead silence. "Ah! Rowan!" Genevieve let out an agonizing shriek.

She scrambled across the floor on her hands and knees, pulling his bleeding head against her chest. Chapter 3 Kendall stood frozen behind me in her pristine white power suit.

Her eyes stretched wide, staring at the bloody scene. She clearly hadn't expected me to duck. Let alone expected the heavy crystal to smash into her precious Rowan's skull.

Out in the hallway, the gathered employees turned deathly pale, their eyes darting wildly. Kendall snapped out of it and glared daggers at me. "Sebastian! This is your fault!

Why did you move?" "If you… if you hadn't been bullying Rowan, I wouldn't have missed!

Are you happy now?!" I casually smoothed out my suit jacket and let out a dry scoff. "Ecstatic, actually. Gotta hand it to you, Kendall, your aim is impeccable.

I almost thought you were on my side, taking out the trash for me…" "You…!" Kendall's face flushed a violent purple, her chest heaving rapidly. She didn't even bother arguing.

She and Genevieve scrambled to haul Rowan up, rushing him out the door to the hospital.

The second they were gone, I punched the intercom line. "Russell, instantly revoke all of Genevieve and Kendall's company access and initiate a toplevel financial audit.

The second you find them embezzling company funds, report them straight to the FBI and the IRS." Those two parasites were swiping my supplementary credit cards.

I dialed American Express next and froze every single one. Then, I called the city's most ruthless divorce attorney. "Beckett, draw up the divorce papers right now.

Make sure Genevieve leaves with absolutely nothing…" I tossed the phone onto the desk and leaned back in my leather chair. My jaw clenched tight.

Those ungrateful leeches wouldn't walk away with a single cent of my family's money.

The game was just getting started. [Genevieve's POV] Inside the VIP suite of the city's top private hospital. Rowan lay propped up in the hospital bed.

I carefully fed him spoonfuls of nutrient broth.

Kendall sat nearby, her face pale and drawn. "What the hell is going on with Sebastian?" she muttered. "It's like he's a completely different person." I fed Rowan the last bite and slammed the empty porcelain bowl onto the nightstand. "What else could it be?

He's just jealous of how we treat Rowan." "He thinks throwing a tantrum will get my attention.

If he hadn't been targeting Rowan from day one, we wouldn't have treated him like this." Kendall nodded sharply. "Exactly.

We need to teach Sebastian a serious lesson this time." Right then, Rowan, who had been scrolling on his phone, froze.

The smugness drained entirely from his features as his eyes locked onto a new notification. He let out a sharp gasp. "Genevieve, Kendall… what's going on?

Why did I just get a termination email from HR?" I snatched the phone from his hand.

One glance at the screen, and my blood boiled. "That pathetic loser!" I gripped the edges of the phone until my knuckles turned white. "How dare he?!" Before I could finish my sentence, my own phone chimed.

Then Kendall's. Identical termination notices from the company. "Sebastian!" Kendall ground the name out through her teeth. Her chest heaved. She was the Vice President on paper.

The CEO's adoptive sister. And she was fired? This meant everything she had built over the years.

Her executive title, her corporate network, her massive upcoming dividends… All of it vanished into thin air? "That little bastard.

Just wait until I get my hands on him!" Rowan just sat there, his mouth hanging open. Chapter 4 Rowan stared at his phone, his face draining of color. Both VPs had been fired too?

The wound on his forehead seemed to throb harder, his eyes rolling back slightly. He had banked everything on clinging to us to climb the corporate ladder, and now it was all gone.

He blindly reached out and gripped Kendall's sleeve, his voice cracking into a pathetic whimper. "Kendall… Genevieve… what do we do?

Did Sebastian really fire us?" "Who the hell does he think he is?! Firing us with a single text?

In his dreams!" Kendall’s chest heaved rapidly, a manic glint in her eyes. "He’s lost his damn mind.

I’m going to the office right now!" "I’m going to confront him in front of the entire company and demand to know who gave him the authority!

I’ll make him drop to his knees and beg for my forgiveness in front of everyone!" She pivoted toward the door, but I grabbed her wrist, yanking her back. "Kendall, what’s the rush?" I scoffed. "Have you forgotten what a pathetic simp he is for us?

Whenever we got sick, wasn't he the one running around, staying up all night to wait on us hand and foot?" "Remember our bet at that Miami spring break yacht party?

We pretended to fall overboard just to see who Sebastian would save first.

Even though he pulled me up onto the deck first, and was completely exhausted from the alcohol and physical drain, he still dove right back into the ocean without hesitation to save you." "He almost got sucked into the yacht's propeller and drowned… Trust me, he’s just throwing a tantrum to get our attention!" I crossed my arms, smirking. "We give him the silent treatment for a few days, and he’ll come crawling back like a stray dog, begging us to return.

If you go to him now, you’re just playing right into his hands." My words hit the mark. The memories flooded back to Kendall. Sebastian bringing her hot soup in the dead of night.

Sebastian getting beaten bloody by street thugs just to protect us.

Sebastian jumping at our every whim, always rushing to foot the bill, and that 'joke' where he nearly drowned… Yes, the old Sebastian… was a mindless fool who obeyed our every command, even willing to risk his life for us.

How could he actually fire us? "Genevieve, you… you actually make a good point.

I just lost my cool for a second." Kendall let out a bright laugh, the arrogant confidence returning to her posture. "Looks like Sebastian really got triggered because we were treating Rowan so well!" "So he’s playing hard to get to force our hand…" Kendall smirked. "Hah, he’s finally learning some tricks.

Let's see how many days he can hold out." [Sebastian's POV] A week later, I carved out some time to visit the hospital for a full physical exam.

In these garbage novels, the overbearing CEO always ends up with stomach cancer. I had finally hit the jackpot and become filthy rich; I wasn't about to die young.

The results came back clean. Completely healthy. Relieved, I stepped out of the elevator into the opulent lobby of the private hospital.

Right on cue, I ran into Genevieve and Kendall. They were standing at the billing counter, processing Rowan's discharge.

The hospital administrator respectfully slid a crisp invoice across the marble counter. "Genevieve, hello.

Rowan does not carry the premium commercial insurance required for this toptier private facility.

Calculating the full outofpocket costs, the total for the helicopter medical evacuation and VIP trauma care comes to exactly $350,000." Rowan visibly flinched at the astronomical number, his jaw dropping open.

Chapter 5 They said the premium neurological drugs he needed cost something crazy per dose, and he'd had over a dozen injections. Genevieve kept her face impassive.

She slowly pulled a sleek credit card from her designer bag. "Charge it." The administrator swiped it. Three, four times. The terminal flashed red.

He slid the card back across the marble counter. "Genevieve, I'm sorry, but this payment is declining.

Do you have another card?" Genevieve and Kendall cycled through half a dozen cards. Declined. Declined. Declined.

The color drained from their perfectly contoured faces. "Kendall, what the hell is going on? Why is everything bouncing?" Kendall ground her teeth. "Mine too.

This has to be Sebastian!" I stood off to the side, watching the trainwreck unfold.

Those two spent their days shopping and partying, exclusively swiping my supplementary Amex cards. They had only been handed VP titles earlier this year.

Their measly salaries had long been conned out of them by Rowan—who spun some sob story about his sick mother—and blown completely at the poker tables.

Genevieve caught sight of me in her peripheral vision. She stormed over, her eyes burning. The other patients and visitors waiting in the lobby began stealing glances.

Two impeccably dressed, beautiful women making a massive scene because their cards bounced was premium entertainment.

Genevieve’s voice pitched up, sharp enough to cut glass. "Sebastian! Was this you?! Did you freeze our accounts?!

Do you have any idea how humiliated we just were?!" A harsh laugh scraped my throat. "I froze my own accounts.

If your cards are declining, how is that my problem?" I leaned in slightly, dropping my voice to a mocking drawl. "You weren't trying to use my money to pay for your boy toy's medical bills, were you
