"Does the fake heiress in your family know how to cook?" That was the very first thing I asked the people the Sinclair family sent for me.

Growing up, I never envied other kids for their mansions or sports cars. I envied the ones who had an older sister to make them midnight snacks.

Unfortunately, my mom had three boys. My oldest brother stole my snacks. My second brother tricked me into doing his homework. My third brother was the worst.

He actually stole my secret stash of Takis.

So when the Sinclairs showed up at my door claiming I was their biological heiress switched at birth, and that the fake heiress was older than me, I didn't cry.

I didn't ask why it took them this long to find me. I just grabbed their butler's hand and asked if the fake heiress knew her way around a kitchen.

The butler stared at me. "She… she knows a little." I clapped my hands together. "What are we waiting for?

Take me to her!" Chapter 1 The second I stepped through the Sinclair family's front doors, my biological brother blocked my path. His face was pure ice. "You are not welcome here.

Autumn is the only sister I will ever acknowledge." I nodded. "That works.

I don't acknowledge you either." A muscle jumped in his jaw. "What is that supposed to mean?" I shoved past his shoulder and made a beeline for Autumn Sinclair sitting on the couch. "Sister!

I heard you make killer honey BBQ wings?" The fake heiress clearly didn't expect that. She almost dropped the teacup in her hand.

She looked at me like I was an alien. "I… I know how to make them a little?" Tears practically welled up in my eyes.

I spun around and pointed straight at my biological brother and the guy standing next to him. "Did you hear that?

Now that is a real sister!" Dead silence filled the living room for ten solid seconds. Carter Sinclair's face turned an ugly shade of green.

The guy standing beside him had to be Chandler Harrington, Autumn's fiancé. Chandler looked me up and down.

A sneer twisted his lips. "Harper, don't think for a second that sucking up to Autumn will earn you a place in this house." I looked at him.

Then I looked at Carter. "Do either of you know how to make honey BBQ wings?" Both men froze. "Then move." I pushed Carter out of the way, dropped onto the couch right next to Autumn, and grabbed both of her hands. "Sister, I am not a picky eater.

Honey BBQ wings, sweet and sour ribs, beef stew. I eat it all." Autumn parted her lips.

It took her a good moment to find her voice. "I only know how to make some basic homecooked meals." "Homecooked meals are perfect." I was ready to cry actual tears of joy.

My mother just had to pop out three sons in a row. My oldest brother, Dominic Prescott, controlled everything I did and banned all snacks after ten at night.

My second brother, Felix Prescott, was a manipulative snake who once bribed me with a single chocolate bar to copy an entire notebook of his mistakes.

My third brother, Blaise Prescott, was absolute trash. When he was thirteen, he stole the very last bag of Takis I hid under my bed. I still hold that grudge today.

But everything was fine now. God finally heard my prayers and delivered a sister who could cook right to my doorstep. Carter realized I was genuinely ignoring him.

The temperature in his voice dropped below zero. "Autumn is not your sister." Chapter 2 "She has been a Sinclair for twenty years. We pampered her her entire life.

Even if you are the biological heiress, don't even think about taking her place." I glanced over my shoulder. "You just said you only acknowledge her as your sister?" "Exactly." "Perfect." I patted Autumn's hand. "She belongs to me now.

You two can go be siblings with each other." Carter's forehead veins throbbed. Chandler sneered. "Raised in a family of nobodies, as expected.

Absolutely zero manners." I actually considered his words. The Prescott estate wasn't exactly massive. The main house only covered half a mountain.

The underground garage could barely fit eighty cars. Last year, my mom complained the pool was too small.

She wanted to expand it, but gave up because it would cut into our private horse track.

Compared to my grandmother's family, who owned an entire private island, we really were just a family of nobodies. I nodded sincerely. "You're right." Chandler choked.

He clearly hadn't expected me to agree. The rest of his insults died in his throat. Footsteps echoed from the stairs. Lawrence and Eleanor Sinclair walked down side by side.

Eleanor's eyes went red the second she locked onto me. "Harper." She stepped forward and reached for my hand. She stopped half a pace away.

Her head turned, throwing a quick, instinctive glance at Autumn. It was like stepping any closer to me would physically hurt the daughter she raised for twenty years. I didn't care.

Before I came to the Sinclairs, Josephine had already held me and cried for three days straight.

One second she cursed the Sinclairs for being careless, the next she blamed herself for not noticing sooner.

She even tried to shove the family's lawyers, doctors, and bodyguards onto me. I couldn't take it anymore. That was why I agreed to come stay here alone for a few days.

Lawrence looked me up and down. He gave a satisfied nod. "It's good that you're back.

You need to fix those loose habits of yours and learn some manners." "The Sinclair family is hosting an important banquet next month. I will officially announce your identity then.

However, Autumn is still a daughter of this house. You are not allowed to target her, and you definitely cannot fight her for anything." I didn't answer him.

I turned to Autumn. "Sister, what time do you cook dinner?" Autumn gripped the edge of her shirt. "We have a chef at home.

I usually don't cook." The light in my eyes instantly died.

She caught my expression and immediately changed her tune. "But if you want to eat them, I can make them." "Sister!" I threw myself at her and wrapped her in a hug.

Autumn stiffened. It took her a long moment to hesitantly lift her hand. She gently patted my back. That night, she actually made me honey BBQ wings.

I sat at the dining table and snapped nine photos. I sent them to my parents, my three brothers, and the rest of the Prescott family group chat.

I added a single caption. [I have a sister now, and she made these for me herself.] Dominic replied first: [Cut down on the sweets.] Felix: [The presentation is average.

Come home, and I'll hire a Michelinstarred chef to cook for you.] Chapter 3 Blaise Prescott videocalled me immediately. "Harper Sinclair, are you trying to piss me off on purpose?" I flipped the camera to Autumn. "Sister, that is the guy who stole my Takis." A small laugh slipped past Autumn's lips.

She picked up another honey BBQ wing with her chopsticks and dropped it into my bowl. "Eat slowly," she said. "There is plenty more." On the screen, Blaise went dead silent.

Three seconds later, he ground his teeth together. "Harper, you just wait. I am buying a plane ticket tonight." I hung up on him.

Carter glared at us. "Are you done putting on a show?" The smile vanished from Autumn's face.

She set her chopsticks down and immediately sat up straight. "Carter, I was just making Harper dinner." "Your health is not good. The kitchen is full of grease and smoke.

What gives her the right to order you around?" Carter snapped his gaze to me. "If you want something, tell a maid. Bossing Autumn around on your very first day.

What exactly is your game here?" "I just wanted to eat my sister's cooking." "Since when are you her sister?" I looked up. "Say that again." My stare made Carter freeze for a second.

Then his face flushed. "I said, Autumn has zero blood relation to you," he spat. "You are just using your status as the biological daughter to come back and steal her place." I looked down at the wing in my bowl.

I grabbed my glass of ice water and threw it right in his face.

Carter shot out of his chair. "Harper!" I stood up, pulled a napkin from the dispenser, and slowly wiped my hands. "First, I have zero interest in stealing anything from the Sinclairs.

Second, your family begged me to come back. I did not ask to be here." "Third, you refusing to be my brother is exactly what I wanted.

But whether Autumn wants to be my sister or not is none of your business." Carter raised his hand.

Before his palm could come down, Autumn threw herself in front of me. "Carter, do not hit her!" Carter slammed his hand to a halt midair.

Autumn's face lost all color, but she did not take a single step back. "Harper just got here. I volunteered to cook for her.

It has nothing to do with her." "Move." "I will not." Carter stared at her in disbelief. I was a little surprised too. But then I saw Autumn's hands.

They were hanging by her sides, shaking. She was terrified, yet she still stood like a shield in front of me. Something soft knocked against my chest.

I leaned out from behind her. "Carter, you better be glad my sister stopped you.

Otherwise, whatever hand you raised today would be in a cast by tomorrow." Carter let out a dark laugh. "You?

Stop me?" I was just about to show him exactly how I would do it when Lawrence slammed his hand on the dining table. "Enough!

Harper Sinclair, apologize to your brother." "For what?" "Because I am your father!" I looked right at him. "Then do you know my adoptive father's last name?" Lawrence froze.

Chapter 4 He clearly didn't know. I let out a low laugh, picked up a chicken wing, and took a bite. "Do a background check first.

Then you can decide if you still want to use that tone with me." By my third day in the Sinclair house, I noticed something sick. Autumn didn't live here like a daughter.

She lived like an unwanted guest. At seven in the morning, Carter wanted pourover coffee. She brewed it. Eleanor had a headache.

Autumn fetched the pills, poured the water, and massaged her temples. Lawrence misplaced a contract.

While every maid in the study stood perfectly still, Autumn knelt on the rug, sorting his papers one by one. Everyone claimed the Sinclairs adored her.

But that adoration was just providing premium kibble to a wellbehaved pet. The catch? She had to be forever obedient, forever quiet, and forever at their beck and call.

At noon, I found her squatting in the garden, picking up shattered porcelain. "Sister, what are you doing?" She yanked her hands behind her back. "Nothing." I grabbed her wrist and pulled.

A deep, bleeding gash sliced right across her fingertip. Scattered on the ground were the remains of Eleanor's favorite bone china tea set. A maid, Sharon, stood off to the side.

She wouldn't meet my eyes. "Who broke this?" I asked. Sharon stammered. "It… it was Miss Autumn.

She was careless." Autumn lowered her head. "It was me." I stared at her for three seconds. "You pick at your thumb when you lie." Autumn immediately released her grip.

The color drained from Sharon's face. I pulled out my phone and brought up the garden's security footage. On the screen, Sharon walked down the corridor carrying the tea set.

She answered her phone, the tray tilted, and the entire set smashed to the ground. A few minutes later, she called Autumn over, begging the girl to take the blame
