To test if I was a gold digger, my billionaire boyfriend decided to fake erectile dysfunction. "I've got erectile dysfunction," he lied, keeping his face deadpan. "The doctor said it's pretty much permanent." I froze, my hand flying to cover my mouth as my eyes snapped wide. "Wait," I breathed out. "Then the guy who wrecked me all night… that wasn't you?" All the blood drained from Declan's face, his jaw practically hitting the floor.

By sunset, the two fratbro buddies who put him up to this little test were sporting matching black eyes and busted lips.

Now, all three of them were lined up on their knees right in front of me. Declan gripped my wrists, his chest heaving as his voice cracked with pure panic. "Think!

You have to think! Who the hell was in your bed last night?!" Chapter 1 Declan hadn't touched me in a solid month.

He preferred getting blackout drunk at a club and having his fratbro buddies drag him home over spending a single night in our bed. I had my own needs.

Lately, I just had to take care of them myself. He woke up hungover in his study and called me in.

He looked at me, his jaw working like he wanted to speak but couldn't find the words. I played the supportive girlfriend and handed him a mug of a murky hangover cure.

It was actually just dishwater from the sink. He didn't drink it.

Instead, he let out a heavy, exaggerated sigh. "Sutton, there's something I've been struggling to tell you." I set the mug down and grabbed his hand, squeezing his fingers to give him courage.

His eyes darted away from mine. He squeezed them shut. "I have erectile dysfunction.

The doctor said it's pretty much incurable." He even had a fake medical report gripped in his shaking hand just to sell the bit. I almost laughed right in his face.

It was exactly what his buddies said he would do. A month ago, his two best friends came to see me. They told me Declan was going to fake ED to force me to dump him.

They told me to save my own dignity and walk away, since I was pushing a man to this extreme. I knew they hated me.

Their precious childhood best friend had a massive crush on Declan, so Knox and Pierce treated me like trash from day one.

But what they didn't know was that I had overheard their little mastermind session even earlier. "Everyone keeps saying Sutton is only after my money," Declan had muttered. "Even my parents." "Because she is," Knox shot back. "If you don't believe it, test her.

Tell her you went bankrupt." Pierce shook his head. "Too fake.

One look at the stock market and she'll know." "Then fake ED," Knox offered. "If she sticks around after that, she's definitely just a gold digger.

It's not like she's staying for the sex." "Any normal woman would dump you," Pierce agreed. Declan didn't say a word.

Sure enough, after that conversation, Declan hadn't laid a finger on me.

Every time things heated up between us, he'd shove me away with a strained, constipated look on his face and lock himself in his study. I wondered how long he could keep up the act.

One month, apparently. I stared at him now, my eyes completely vacant.

I pressed one hand to my chest and covered my mouth with the other. "Wait," I breathed out. "Then the guy who wrecked me all night… that wasn't you?" The fake embarrassment vanished from Declan's face.

He froze for five whole seconds. "What the hell did you just say?!" I forced a blush to my cheeks and gently tugged down my collar, exposing the angry, red marks scattered across my collarbone.

I scratched them into my own skin in the middle of the night. Declan's face turned ashen. His knuckles popped as he clenched his fists.

I fixed my collar, letting my voice waver with fake tears. "Wasn't it you? Who else could it be?

Unless…" I covered my mouth again, letting my gaze drift slowly toward the open door.

Out in the living room, Knox and Pierce—the guys who dragged him home last night—were still passed out on the couches.

Declan kicked the blankets off and practically jumped out of bed. He charged into the living room, swinging his fists, and threw himself onto the two sleeping men. "Fuck!

You sick bastards!" I leaned against the hallway wall, watching the chaos. Every few seconds, I forced out a pathetic sob. "Stop it!

Please stop fighting, you're scaring me!" But behind my hands, my eyes were wide open.

Watching these usually perfectly groomed trustfund babies wrestling on the floor and beating the hell out of each other like wild street dogs was pure entertainment.

Chapter 2 I knew Declan never fully trusted me. In his mind, a woman with a face like mine didn't just fall blindly in love.

He was dead set on the idea that I was only clinging to him for his bank account. The guy was an idiot. What was so wrong with wanting him for his money?

Fairytale romance was a fragile, fleeting illusion. Cold, hard cash? That was a foundation you could actually build a life on. I had the receipts to prove it, too.

When he first started chasing me, he played the whole undercover billionaire card and hid his trustfund status. So, I kept him on my roster.

A text here, a casual coffee there—whenever I remembered he existed. We were hot and cold, barely a blip on each other's radar. Total instability.

But the second he accidentally dropped his black Amex in front of me? I cleared out my entire roster that same afternoon. From that day on, he had my undivided attention.

Suddenly, our relationship was rocksolid. Bulletproof. In a single month, we hit milestones that hadn't budged in the previous six. That was the raw efficiency of wealth.

Besides, accusing me of only wanting his money wasn't entirely fair. I wasn't a total mercenary.

He was dropdead gorgeous, and I wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth when it came to prime genetics.

By the time the three of them burned out, they were sprawled across the hardwood, chests heaving as they gasped for air.

I grabbed the firstaid kit and stepped into the living room, the picture of wideeyed innocence. I drifted over to Knox first.

With his bleachedblonde hair, he usually looked like he stepped right out of a fashion editorial.

Right now, though, one of his eyes was swollen shut, and dark blood seeped from the corner of his split lip.

My knees had barely hit the floor beside him before Declan scrambled up and aimed a vicious kick at his ribs. "I knew it was you, you piece of shit!

No wonder you were pushing so hard for me to—" Declan's voice snapped off.

His eyes darted to me, a flash of pure panic crossing his face before he swallowed the rest of his sentence. Knox used the distraction to shove me away.

His face was a messy cocktail of panic and desperation. "Sutton, back off!

I swear to God, it wasn't me last night!" It was a weak shove, but I let my body go limp, tumbling backward with a sharp gasp. I landed perfectly across Pierce's chest.

Pierce's hands acted on instinct, clamping down hard on my waist to steady me. I whipped my head around, shrinking back with a perfect display of terror. I met his gaze.

He had a nasty gash over his eyebrow. "Thank you," I breathed, keeping my voice trembling. "Let me… let me clean that cut for you." "Get your fucking hands off her, Pierce, you sick bastard!" Declan lunged forward, his fist swinging in a wild, blind arc.

Pierce instantly shoved me behind his back, taking the defensive line. His brow pulled into a tight knot. "Declan, back the fuck up and calm down!" Pierce shot back. "It wasn't me!

I was blacked out last night!" Declan froze. His fist hung suspended in midair. He whipped his head back toward Knox, his eyes completely bloodshot.

Knox shook his head so hard it looked like it might snap off his neck. "Not me either! I was completely wasted!" Declan stood paralyzed in the center of the room.

His jaw went slack, the color draining rapidly from his skin. I swiped a fake tear from my cheek and let out a broken whisper. "Right. You were all so drunk.

It makes sense that no one remembers." I paused, letting my voice crack perfectly. "I can just… pretend it was Declan.

Even though we all know Declan…" I slowly lifted my gaze to meet his, letting a razorthin sliver of pity bleed into my expression. His face turned the color of thunder.

He had just handed me a fake medical report claiming his junk didn't work. Even if he was the one in my bed last night, he couldn't exactly backtrack and admit it now.

He had no choice but to stand there and swallow this massive, imaginary cuckolding right in front of his best friends.

Hearing that, Knox and Pierce exchanged a loaded, horrifying look. The rigid certainty in their postures crumbled, their shoulders sinking in defeat.

Both of them dropped their gazes to the floor, their brains visibly scrambling to piece together the missing fragments of their blackout night. I had them right where I wanted them.

Right now, neither of them was completely sure they hadn't crossed the line. Chapter 3 Declan caught the horrified look passing between the two of them.

A vicious curse slipped from his mouth, and he launched himself across the room again, completely rabid. Round two left them all looking like absolute garbage.

Knox's left eye swelled into a bruised slit. Pierce's jaw puffed up to the size of a golf ball. All that polished, trustfund arrogance was completely wiped from their faces.

Blood welled from a fresh split in Declan's lower lip. He shoved a cigarette between his teeth, fired up his lighter, and collapsed back into the leather sofa.

He stared at the ceiling. "Sutton." His voice scraped out. "Think. Who the hell was it last night?" Knox crawled closer. His face crumpled. "Please, Sutton. You have to remember.

This is… this is really bad. Please!" Pierce stayed silent. He just stared hard at the floorboards, his brain visibly shortcircuiting as he tried to piece his blackout together.

I swept my gaze over their three pathetic, busted faces and let out a soft sigh. I paused, putting on a show of intense concentration.

When I finally met their eyes, I kept my voice honeysweet. "The lights were completely off the whole time.

I really couldn't see anything." I let my eyelashes flutter down. "All I remember… is his stomach.

His abs were rock hard." I dipped my chin, playing the part of the bashful girlfriend. "I honestly thought it was you, Declan.

I figured you spent the last month hitting the gym." Dead silence slammed into the room. Declan's fingers jerked.

A chunk of burning ash snapped off his cigarette and burned a hole straight into the expensive leather sofa.

Even knowing he wasn't the guy, his hand drifted down on instinct to press against his own stomach. His eyes darkened. A month ago, he was perfectly shredded.

But thirty days of binge drinking and dodging me had taken its toll. The hard muscle was gone, replaced by the soft beginnings of a beer gut.

Knox and Pierce froze the second the words left my mouth. A few agonizing seconds ticked by.

Simultaneously, both men dropped their chins and subtly pressed their hands against their own stomachs. I had checked them out before. They both took excellent care of themselves.

Knox went rigid first. He practically lived at the gym, and his core was built like a brick wall.

The second his fingers brushed his own rigid muscles, all the color drained from his face. Pierce looked even more devastated. He ran daily, and his abs were solid.

He felt the firm muscle under his shirt, shot a hyperguilty glance at Declan, and then locked eyes with Knox.

Their shared panic practically screamed across the room: Fuck… was it really me? Declan watched the silent exchange. A violent twitch pulled at the corner of his mouth.

The cigarette pinched between his fingers went completely cold. His eyes darkened, the muscle in his jaw ticking frantically.

Round one of the interrogation, and he was the only guy officially eliminated. He refused to let it go. He ground his teeth together. "Think harder. What else?

Give me details." I twisted the fabric of my sleeve around my fingers. I bit my lower lip. "You want… the exact details?" "Say it," he demanded.

I forced a deep flush to my cheeks and let my eyes glaze over, like I was getting lost in the memory. "He was an incredible kisser.

He slipped his tongue in deep, completely taking over.

I could barely catch my breath." I paused, letting the silence stretch before delivering the final blow. "I really thought you'd just been practicing your technique, Declan." Chapter 4 The words dropped into the room like a bomb.

Dead silence followed. Declan's composure visibly shattered. His jaw tightened so hard I thought his teeth might crack.

He kissed like a golden retriever eating peanut butter—messy, completely lacking finesse, and definitely no tongue.

A second later, Knox slapped his thigh and barked out a laugh. "Scared the shit out of me! I've still got my first kiss.

I wouldn't know what to do with a tongue!" Declan's glare snapped to Pierce like a physical blow. His knuckles turned stark white. Pierce's face flushed a deep, dark red.

He dropped his chin, studying the floorboards with intense focus. "Mine too," he muttered. "I probably suck at it." I blinked. Knox was the loud, flashy playboy.

Pierce was the quiet, untouchable aristocrat. They both looked like they had a string of broken hearts trailing behind them, but neither of them had ever even kissed a girl?

I caught myself staring at them. Knox leaned back against the sofa cushions, his eyes curving up at the corners with that signature fuckboy smirk.

Pierce sat ramrod straight, his sharp jawline and high nose bridge giving him a frosty, pristine vibe. Declan suddenly snapped.

He kicked the heavy coffee table, sending it scraping across the rug. "Neither of you have kissed anyone?!" he demanded. "So what, did Sutton just make out with a fucking ghost?!" The air in the room went taut.

Knox's smirk froze instantly. "I swear to God," he mumbled, his voice shrinking. "The most I've done is hold a girl's hand." The tips of Pierce's ears turned bright pink.

He choked out, "I haven't even done that." His chest heaved, pulling in shallow, ragged breaths.

I let out a slow, deliberate breath. "Just because you haven't kissed anyone doesn't mean you wouldn't be a natural at it. It's unprovable anyway.

Unless…" I let my voice drop into a soft, wounded pitch, perfectly letting the sentence hang in the air. Knox's eyes lit up. "Unless we kiss right now!

That would prove my innocence instantly!" Pierce usually had a flawless poker face, but he shot Knox a look that practically screamed, Are you out of your fucking mind?

Declan completely lost it.

He lunged forward. "You're not even pretending anymore, are you?!" They started barking at each other again, tossing the blame back and forth in a messy shouting match.

I let out a shaky sigh and forced a fresh layer of moisture into my eyes. "Forget it," I interrupted softly. "Since no one wants to take responsibility, I'll just pretend last night never happened.

I don't want to watch you guys tear your friendship apart over me." Declan shook his head frantically. "No! Think again! What else?

Give me another detail!" I tilted my head, looking at him with wide eyes. "You really want more?" The rest of the details would get this whole broadcast canceled.

It was like he was a masochist, desperately digging through the dirt to find a single detail that proved he was the guy.

I put on my best thinking face, letting the silence stretch out. Finally, I spoke. "He was… huge." The air turned to concrete
